What Makes Us Different

Once Josie’s Misfit Ranch receives an animal, we assess it for medical and behavioral needs to prepare our fosters for what the animal will require under their care. They then go to a loving foster family where they will learn how to live in a family home and begin to recover from any trauma they may have endured (both physical and mental). All our animals are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and, if necessary, treated for any medical conditions before they are eligible for adoption. Our animals are introduced to behavioral training and given lots of attention and affection by their foster family. This helps prepare them for a successful transition to their forever home.

When we place our animals in forever homes, we provide the family with a blanket, toys and enough food to start them out. This ensures that the animal has familiar items with them to ease the transition and doesn’t get sick from a sudden change in their diet. We also provide access to training support after our animals are adopted. For animals with special but manageable medical needs, we also train adopters on any ongoing care that is required.

While we expect our adopters to be committed to the wellbeing of their new pet, we don’t expect them to know everything about caring for a dog or cat. That’s why we are there for them to guide them and help them with any questions. Josie’s Misfit Ranch commits to our animals for their entire life. That is why we require all our adopters to contact us if there is an issue that may affect their ability to care for the animal; or return the animal to us if they need to surrender them.
